Electricity prices increases by 15.7% despite continuous power interruptions
Electricity tariffs are set to rise from, 1 April 2021. But there is light at the end of this dark tunnel for community schemes.
The price of electricity in South Africa is hiked by 15.7%, according to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA). The North Gauteng High Court has ordered that an amount of R10 billion be added to Eskom’s allowable revenue and be recovered from tariff customers in the 2021/22 financial year.
This electricity price increase has multiple implications for homeowners and community schemes - top of mind is spending more on an unreliable electricity supply.
