STS partners with FFD to make a positive difference for Mandela Day 2021

In this unprecedented time, we at Sectional Title Solutions (STS), humbly believe former president Nelson Mandela’s words, “poverty is not natural. It is man-made and can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings.”

Johnny Wates, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of the STS Group shares that sentiment and says, “a nation should be best measured by how they treat the less fortunate and alleviating poverty should form a large part of our national heritage.”

COVID-19 has hit every economy, causing new social and economic challenges and exacerbating old ones, leaving millions of people in need of social security and support. When it was clear that the brunt of the pandemic would be on the vulnerable, STS partnered with Faith Foods Distribution (FFD) to alleviate the impact of the pandemic on the broader South African community through financial assistance, food and care packages. The group supports the initiative with a collective R1.2 million annual donation. To date, the partnership has fed thousands of people, participated in blanket outreach programs, and donated PPE equipment across the country.

While Mandela Day remains a general call to reach out to those in need, this year’s focus will be on the challenge of food security. To that end, we are pleased to announce that we will be doing our bit for the less fortunate.

In normal circumstances, on Mandela Day, the STS team would have contributed through an employee volunteer program, building houses, food drop-offs and fixing schools. Due to the continuing threat of the Covid-19 virus, our approach this year is a little different.

In line with COVID-19 restrictions and to limit the spread of the resurged virus, we cannot physically get involved. So, in collaboration with the NPO, FFD, we will be financially supporting the following initiatives

  • A donation of R10 000.00 to the Mandela Day foundation’s Each1Feed1 campaign. The initiative and its vast food distribution network will bring relief to the threat of food insecurity during and after the crisis we are facing due to the pandemic and the lockdown by distributing food hampers to support families for a minimum of three months.
  • A donation of R10 000.00 to the Nkosinathi Foundation of and for the Blind and Partially Sighted People. The dedicated group recognised the need for rehabilitation, support and adaptive skills services for those who have recently lost their sight. Since inception, they provide people with support, guidance, skills and tools that help them lead fulfilling, meaningful and independent lives
  • A donation of R10 000.00 to Round Table Gauteng’s winter uniform project. Many parents are struggling to make ends meet and cannot afford winter school uniforms. The round table Gauteng has stepped in to provide schools in underprivileged areas with winter uniforms that will include shoes, socks, long pants, shirts and most importantly, a jacket. With our donation, we will be able to keep a few kids warm this chilly winter.

“We are committed to South Africa and being a good corporate citizen. The pandemic has impacted our lives in a myriad of ways. It has taken a big toll on wage earners, the homeless, business owners and the underprivileged. We would also like to show our appreciation to our front-line workers. It is to them we owe our thanks”

Johnny Wates, Chief Executive Officer of the STS Group

On top of the donations mentioned, STS Group will be donating R10 000.00 to send our front-line workers a ‘Thank You’ gift for their tireless care in these difficult times.
